On August 31, 2010, the Obama administration declared that combat operations in Iraq had ended. Nevertheless, NPP's Cost of War counter for Iraq continues as we track both military and non-military costs associated with the U.S. presence in Iraq, including reconstruction. The numbers include all of the funding that has been requested by the President and appropriated by Congress for the wars through the end of the current fiscal year on September 30, 2011. These numbers reflect the allocation of $169.4 billion in April 2011 as part of the Department of Defense and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2011 (P.L. 112-10).
All told, $1.26 trillion dollars has been allocated to date to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
